C. Howard of Boston. Early 19th century inlaid oak and mahogany eight day longcase clock(-)

C. Howard of Boston. An early 19th century inlaid oak and mahogany eight day longcase clock, the 12 inch arched dial painted with birds and seashells, 7ft 2in.
Estimate £120-180

Case of attractive colour and overall good condition, some slight inward warping of the swans neck cornice and the two roundels applied have later gold overpaint and probably an addition, equally the scroll to the right has signs of old restoration, brass finials and eagle look later. Dial looks original although numerals have been slightly retouched as has the naming, hour hand has been broken off and there are old signs of soldering to the minute hand, movement looks complete if rather dirty and looks like it will need some attention to get in running, trunk key is a later example but working, box base shows two vertical splits in the panelling, comes with a pendulum, associated brass winding key and two lead weights. Yes the case has probably been re-finished 10 years ago or more.
