Lot 1024 , Maxime Lalanne (1827-1886) River landscape, 11 x 16.5in.
Maxime Lalanne (1827-1886)
black chalk on paper,
River landscape,
label remnant verso,
11 x 16.5in.
Estimate £150-200
Charcoal or black chalk on a brown coloured paper which has now discoloured to some extent particularly notably across the top margin, also two streaks running down the top right hand corner which clearly is water damage, some small scattered dirt specks and some light foxing showing in the middle, otherwise paper is undulating so thought not to be laid down, appears not to be signed, in a very grubby old card mount and tatty wood frame. Christie's stencil number verso 239SM along with an old paper label, both of which form the reason for attribution.
Comes for sale from an old Private collection.
