An 18th century and later oyster veneered chest, of two short and three long drawers, decorated all over with a pattern of circles, on bracket feet, W.3ft 3in.

This chest appears to have started life as a plain George III oak bureau which has been later veneered probably circa 1900-1930 hence the low estimate.
The proportions are incorrect for what would normally be a late 17th century chest.
The veneer is thin - machine cut.
The colour is good with a rich polish. There are a number of small old repairs and patches to the veneers with some small sections missing from the front.
Brassware is later. Interiors of drawers show numerous old holes for previous fittings.
Top long drawer oddly has an escutcheon but no key hole.
Overall a decorative piece rather than one for the purist. Needs some cosmetic attention but should restore to good effect.
