Lot 777 , Victorian circular papier mache painted & MOP inlaid occasional table(-)
A Victorian circular papier mache painted and mother of pearl inlaid occasional table, with central vase shaped column and domed platform base, together with a similar Victorian papier mache side chair with tapestry seat, table W.1ft 5in.
Estimate £100-150
Table - there are some minor losses around the scalloped border and general wear to the gilded areas in places, there are two small holes on the top which I presume once housed L shape pins for a lectern of book stand. Top has a gilt brass tilting mechanism, there is a little button that is now missing from that mechanism, there is also a screw bolt missing which would have held the telescopic pole in place when raised, base is quite an unusual shape with minor losses around the scalloped border and general wear to gilding, the chair in this lot is very average condition with a repair to the back splat and repair to the legs, general wear to gilding all over.
Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid.
