Thomas Smythe (1825-1907) Loading a haycart and horses beside a stable, 13 x 17in.

Thomas Smythe (1825-1907)
pair of oils on canvas,
Loading a haycart and horses beside a stable,
one signed,
13 x 17in.
Estimate £600-800

Haycart - oil on original canvas, one small hole punched towards the top right corner, the canvas is still retained however some of the paint is missing, otherwise light scuffing marks on the left hand side and white mould marking across the bottom of the work, signed lower right, probably in its original gilt gesso frame which has been overpainted and is equally grubby, three old patch repairs showing at the back, all retouched to good effect.
Image with horses has been relined probably 10 - 20 years ago and is therefore in cleaner condition, but still shows some traces of white mould which do just wipe off, signed lower left, in a similar but not matching old gesso frame. Both should restore to good effect.
