An interesting collection of Royal ephemera, 1930's to 1950's, formerly the property of Inspector John Herbert ['Jack'] Giles (1903-1977) of Scotland Yard, bodyguard to Queen Elizabeth from the 1930's, comprising: 1938 State visit to Paris, including an illustrated commemorative book and entertainment programme signed by Maurice Chevalier; 1939 'Royal Train' visit to Canada, with associated publications, itineraries, menus, press photographs etc; a 1939 ALs on Marlborough House card from Queen Mary to Elizabeth; a 1938 TLs 'thank you' note and 1941 Christmas card signed by the King and Queen; palace menus; FCO India Office banquet, 23 Mar 1939; 1937 and 1953 Coronation and other memorabilia, programmes, personal documents, etc. and a set of GVI presentation cufflinks (modified as a necklet)
