A Japanese walrus ivory netsuke of Binzuru Rakan and a tiger, Meiji period, each seated before rockwork, 4.1cm

There is a chip loss to the end of the left foot of the Rakan, there are various age cracks all over several of which have been stabilised with minute circular inset discs of walrus ivory which have then been over carved and engraved to match the surrounding design, the match of the colour and type of ivory may indicate that this was done in the original making of the piece, there is a tiny splinter chip to the tip of the Rakan's nose and there is some general wear consistent with age to the carving, a few fine age cracks to the ivory across the old mans shoulders and the top of his head otherwise in good condition.
