A Japanese inlaid persimmon wood tsuitate screen panel, Meiji period, possibly Tokyo School, finely decorated in gilt and silver lacquer, wood and ivory with two samurai fighting, one having thrown a fan towards his foe, the reverse with bats flying in moonlight beneath willow tree branches, gilt metal mounts to the black lacquered frame, ivory seal ‘Arai sei?’, total size 124.5cm high x 93cm wide, slight damage, stand lacking

Condition:
There are some age cracks to the wood ground and the lacquer on the reverse near the top of the screen, there’s also some flake losses to the lacquer on the edge on the reverse. The lower figure is missing the tip of one of his scabbard (saya), general small scuffs and dents to the surface, the stand which the screen slots into is lacking, otherwise in reasonable condition.
