A ruby and diamond brooch, France, circa 1900, composite, of arched design, set with fleur-de-lis motifs of rose-cut diamonds spaced by cabochon rubies, mounted in gold, engraved with a snake skin pattern, length 6.3cm, French assay marks for 18ct gold, later gilt metal brooch fitting, converted from a hair-comb, some rubies possibly synthetic, gross weight approximately 7 grams

Typical discoloration commensurate with age. Nice quality workmanship. Gilt metal brooch fitting, some lead solder where attached. Remnants of comb fitting in base.
