A good late 19th/early 20th century Austro-Hungarian silver gilt, polychrome enamel, lapis lazuli and gem set mantel timepiece, modelled as a fire surround surmounted with lions and an eagle, the lapis base surmounted with two figures and French movement with Roman dial, Austro-Hungarian import mark only?, with original leather case. height 22.3cm.

The watch movement is loose and comes away from the case. There is a loose cog and the dial comes away from the movement, so is in need of attention. The watch is not currently working. We cannot guarantee any of the watches/movements to be in working order. Most of the enamel is still present, but on closer examination there is some minor damage to parts in general in the form of chips, cracks or complete loss. There doesn't appear to be any of the coloured stones missing. One of the split pearls is damaged. One of the lion finials is slightly loose. There are visible surface cracks to the lapis base. There may be an old repair to the back right foot. The spear in the right hand of one of the figures is a little bent. The silver all appears in good order but would benefit from a good clean. Overall condition is otherwise good.
The fitted case has some condition issues in the form of a large split across the back of the rear and a small split to the front case. Both also have other small tears and numerous scuff marks, the front has a piece of old sellotape stuck to it.
The gross weight is 44.5 oz.
