A pair of Chinese hardwood flower stands, possibly huanghuali 17th / 18th century, the rectangular tops above key scrollwork carved friezes, on square moulded legs joined by shaped stretchers, W.42.5cm H.85cm D.31.5cm, old repairs and replacements to feet

Please note these are 18th / 19th century, first stand has some shrinkage and minor splits to the top, there is some occasional filler to cracks or small losses on the legs and all four feet are replacement, it is very difficult to say however whether the stretchers are the original ones used or later replacements, the replacements have been done with timber of some age as it is dry and variation in colour, also the frieze on one side has some slight old worm damage which has now been treated and the table is slightly wobbly on a flat surface, the second stand again has splits and shrinkage to the top, a repair to one of the long friezes and some old filler repair to the legs, one of the legs also has old filled in insets for a shelf or repair so may have been a leg that has been replaced with an old part, or four feet have been re-tipped, difficult to say whether they have re-used old stretchers or whether they are replacements however the timber that has been used is quite dry and has some variation in colour, the stand is generally a bit rickety where it is loose at the joints.
