A massive Chinese blue and white 'dragon' tripod censer, Qianlong mark and of the period (1736-95), of globular form, finely painted with two five-claw dragons amid clouds, each facing a lotus leaf capped cartouche with calligraphic dedicatory inscription 'This vessel is a gift from Xu Guo Xian to his teacher... in the reign of Qianlong', on three tapering stump feet, height 34.5cm, diameter 40.5cm, old repairs and losses
