A George II silver inkstand, William Cripps, 1750, the cartouche shaped stand with reeded border, on four scroll and pad feet, with two pen wells and three pots to centre, inkpot, pounce pot and another, engraved with a coat of arms and motto 'Virtus Mille Scuta', (Virtue Is Equal To A Thousand Shields). The motto is for the Clifford, Dayrell, Howard & Sadler families, 22cm, 14.7oz.
