Discusses Infants of the Spring (1976), Messengers of Day (1978) - the first two volumes of Powell’s 4-volume autobiography – and Evelyn Waugh, with whom Powell was at Oxford in the 1920s, both being members of the infamous ‘Hypocrites’ Club, along with Harold Acton, Robert Byron, and others who would come to be associated with the Brideshead generation.
