A Japanese wakizashi, the tang signed Yoshitake, the 54.5cm blade inscribed to the tang, ‘Izumo Daijo Fujiwara Yoshitake’ possibly for Yoshitake of Musashi province using the first of the 3 forms of his signature recorded in Hawley YO 557, the reverse with nengo ’Tenna or Tenwa’ possibly for the period (1681-84), with 19th century mixed metal and bronze tsuba, kashira, fuchi, menuchi and kurigata, lacquered saya, the gilt metal kozuka with signed blade

Condition:
Some oxidisation and rust patches to the blade. The various mountings are of mixed manufacture and material, some wear to the gilding on the tsuba, The cord on the handle has come loose. Some denting and flaking to the lacquer on the saya.
