**Richard Keyte of Wittney. An 18th century walnut eight day longcase clock, with moulded cornice, barley twist framed door and 10 inch square brass dial signed and engraved with foliate scrolls, later anchor escapement movement, slender trunk and bracket feet, W.1ft 5.5in. H.6ft 6.5in.

Overall of good rich mid to dark walnut tone with a fair state of polish, probably source of restoration 20 years ago or more, separating slightly at the joints around the pediment, no key to the door but it did once have a mechanism that was released from the inside, movement complete but not tested for timekeeping, comes with a brass faced pendulum and two cast iron weights, some small separation around the moulding around the trunk door and has old latch to hold it shut fitted over halfway downwards, similarly so around the mouldings around the box base where there is some scuffing and denting commensurate with age.
Maker recorded as circa 1770.
Dial and movement look to be associated to the case, please note the seatboard has been raised above the original supports which is most likely to be when it was adapted to the movement.
Dial has dull bronze tone. Pendulum has rub marks on the back of the case, look to all be in same location.
