A George VI silver canteen of Salisbury? pattern cutlery for twelve by Mappin & Webb, comprising two hundred and nine items, including twenty four ivorine handled table knives, twelve dessert knives, six piece carving set and twelve pairs of mother of pearl handed dessert eaters, all with steel blades except for the dessert forks which have silver tines, the silver flatware hallmarked for Sheffield, 1937/38/39 & 40, and engraved with the letter H, weighable silver 232oz, housed in a free standing walnut two drawer canteen on cabriole legs with claw and ball feet, width 74.5cm.

12 silver fish knives and forks. 24 table forks, 12 dessert forks, 12 dessert spoons, 12 teaspoons, 12 grapefruit spoons, 12 soup spoons, 6 egg spoons, 4 serving spoons, sifter spoon, pair of fish servers, soup ladle, pair of sauce ladles, three small serving spoons, 12 coffee spoons and a pickle spoon and fork.

The canteen is in generally fairly well used condition, with numerous nicks and scratches to the silver consistent with age, but the fork tines and spoons tips are in good order with little signs of wear. One mother of pearl handles of the dessert forks and knives is damaged and most of the rest of the handles have sprung slightly. All hallmarks clear.
