Five unusual Chinese famille rose 'rice-grain' bordered plates, Guangxu period (1875-1908), two finely painted with a boy and geese, the third a deer in a landscape, 22.5cm, the fourth a boy and a scholar in an interior and the last a mythological figure on raft, 21cm

The deer plate in particular shows the influence of the Qianjiang School of painting in the use of more subdued enamel colours and applied inky black of the deer and tree in the background.
All of the plates have some kiln grit around the foot, the plate painted with a deer and another single example with a boy and geese have some very slight nibbles / shallow splinter chips around the edge of the rim, otherwise in good condition.
