A pair of 19th century Dieppe ivory carvings of muses, standing semi-clad with arms aloft, on ebonised socles, Overall H. 12.25in.

Maiden with grapes a little bleached to the front with darker tones to the back, fine cracking running down from her shoulder to her breast, small plugged hole to the top back of the piece, looks to have been done originally, further fine cracks running through the plinth and the back of her ankle, socles add 4 inches to the height, socle with heavy worming. The other figure has tip to one finger missing, difference in colour tone from front to back, fine hairline cracking running down from her shoulders towards her breasts, short cracks running through the foot, ebonised socle has some damage to one side. These are elephant ivory and carved from one piece.
