A 19th century French Dieppe ivory carving of Venus and Cupid, on an ebonised socle, Overall H.13.25in.

This is made from elephant ivory and has a bleach to the front leaving a darker tone to the back, Cupid has lost his fore finger, Venus has minor damage to the petals of her rose, and has lost her fore finger, Venus has what appears to be natural flaws in the ivory running down the back of her leg and two short splits and a hole in the plinth, the ebonised socle is 3.5 inches in height, looks to have been carved from one piece of ivory.
Height without base 24.5cm. Venus and cupid are one piece.
