A handsome set but with a fair number of small losses,.
Red:
King - tiny chip to edge of hat, also has lost something from the top of his hat some sort of finial, otherwise very good
Queen - missing finial from hat, very slight wear to the raised points
Bishops - both missing finials, one with small chip to lotus base, the other with three small old cracks to lotus base
Knights - one with chipping to both ears, both missing finials from hats, slight wear to edges of bases but overall good, particularly note the reins are intact.
Castles - missing something from the tops probably flags, one castle coming slightly loose from the top of the elephant, the same castle has the rider missing, both with tiny nicks to edges of base.
Pawns - two intact, one with chip to tip at back of helmet, one with damage to front edge of shield, one with small chip to back of leg and back of hat, one with the blade of the sword missing, and one with the tip of the sword missing and reglued through both ankles.
Whites (Chinese)
King - left hand missing, staff missing, finial to hat and applique to front of forehead missing, slight chipping to carving around the hat, slight chipping to the base
Queen - slight chipping around both flowers to the sides of her head, slight chipping to base
Bishops - one with chipping to the side of the hat, otherwise good
Knights - one holding a flag that may or may not be original, the other lacking it, the one with flag has tiny break to both sides of the reins, the other has lost a section of one back leg and all legs have been broken through and re-stuck.
Castles - both lacking flags to the top, one lacking a building and also with some damage to the castellations, both riders have lost their right arms, one elephant has lost much of its trunk and also it has some chipping to the foot rim.
Pawns - all have losses to the tops of their muskets, in addition one has been broken through at the knee, another broken through the lower legs and has lost its right arm and a further has discolouration around the base.
