A large William IV and later mahogany five pillar extending dining table, 21ft 10in. x 5ft 2.5in. x 2ft 5in.

A large William IV and later mahogany five pillar extending dining table, with four extra leaves, each turned tapering columns with four downswept supports with stiff leaf carved decoration and brass capped castor feet, 21ft 10in. x 5ft 2.5in. x 2ft 5in.
Estimate £8,000-12,000

One of the pedestals is a later replacement but has been done very well and to a high standard and is hard to tell, the rectangular mahogany top section for this pedestal does have replacement or newer wood, this is a slight different colour to the other sections, some of the bearers underneath the table are newer replacements, the brass clips are replacements, two of the leaves have a small area of damage from the edge of the ovolo moulding running into the table probably about 3 or 4 inches and there is a slight gap between the join of some of the leaves, there are some minor scratches in places and it has been repolished at some point in the past.
The present vendor paid a considerable amount of money for this table over 20 years ago and it is probably around this time that any restoration was done.
Overall it is in reasonable condition but is an extremely large table and unusual in having five pillars.
