A Chinese blue and white ‘mythical beasts’ jar and cover, possibly Chongzhen period (1627-1644), painted with a continuous scene of two qilin and another mythical beast in a garden amidst trees, rocks and a fence, below an incised band of chevrons and painted leaf lappets, the cover decorated with bamboo and a rock, 30cm high

Condition:
Some occasional scuffing and scratching to the glaze and some grubbiness to the unglazed rim in a part of the cover and the foot, otherwise in good condition with no restoration, chips or cracks detected.
