Samples of 18th century French, possibly Lyon silk, short loom brocades including two pairs and three single samples of varying sizes, one pair multi polychrome of large exotic flowers and fruits, the other pair pale blue background, now only showing silver metallic and cream silk embroidery, a large single panel with multi-coloured flowers tied with tasselled cord surrounded by a vining floral edge, a green floral brocade now cut and made as a cushion cover and a small fragment, part of a much larger design, largest sample 83cm long x 52cm wide including edging (7). Condition - two have become damp and the colours have run, two, the coloured silks have completely faded, the largest sample, the silk is tender and torn in places, but is still a useful sample. The other two only part samples of repeats. All seven samples condition, a result of age, light, atmospheric changes and use.
