A late 19th century French ebonised calendar timepiece, by Antoine Redier, Paris, 45cm
£150-200

Condition:
Month-going movement seems fully-wound and when the original pendulum is set in motion, timepiece movement runs for approx. five minutes only. Day, date and month apertures adjust manually but day and date are presumably connected to the time-keeping to adjust automatically … so attention needed to going mechanism which lacks a key. Month adjusted manually only. Case fair; glass front lifts up and out, slight crack to glass close to knob handle; printed paper instructions (under the heading “Pendule Calendrier”) in five languages applied to inside of backboard. Dates on the instructions sheet suggest a mid-19th century age.
