A Chinese export gilt-decorated black lacquer tea caddy, 19th century, the exterior decorated with figures amid pavilions and trees, enclosing an engraved pewter canister, W. 28cm

There is some slight wear to the gilding on the cover and occasional scratch to the lacquer, there is a little bit of lifting to the lacquer on the front edge of the cover and around the lock plate beneath and some high quality restoration to where there must have been some flaking to the lacquer around the lock clasp on the cover and lockplate and the base section, the canister which does slide out has some slight denting to the cover and the body in places, it has a bone handle and there are other small areas of wear to the gilding all over and the lacquer underneath is bubbled very slightly with some hairline cracks to it, otherwise in reasonable condition.
