Lot 254 , A Japanese sectional ivory figure of a street peddler, Meiji period, 24.5cm
A Japanese sectional ivory figure of a street peddler, Meiji period, signed, 24.5cm
Estimate £80-120
The figure is missing a beater or stick in his right hand, which is broken off and there is a couple of vacant holes on his left hip where there may have been a basket and there is evidence that it is a sectional piece which has been re-glued around the waist rather messily and there are some age cracks to the back of the figure on his robes and again there seems to be another hole on his right hip
