Both seats in good condition having been restored 20 - 30 years ago, these were purchased by the vendor in the antique trade as American. Gilding is gold paint and has been re-done in recent years, now showing light wear, frames throughout have seen repaint and improvement to the original painted rosewood effect, to the point now one should really regard the entire finish as being redone, frames are solid, one seat is approximately 1.5 inches lower in all proportions, both height and length, caning looks to be later and has been black painted or stained, watered silk upholsterey in fair order although showing signs of light wear.
