Lot 1028 , A George III 22ct gold keywind lever pocket watch by Robert Roskell, Liverpool,

A George III 22ct gold keywind lever pocket watch by Robert Roskell, Liverpool,

A George III 22ct gold keywind lever pocket watch by Robert Roskell, Liverpool, with ornate repousse case decorated with cupid amongst flowers and fruit, the three colour gold Roman dial with foliate decoration, the signed patent movement with diamond set and serpent engraved cock and numbered 25091, case hallmarked for Chester, 1814.
Estimate £1,200-1,500

The overall case diameter is approx. 45mm. The gross weight is 116 grams.
The watch is ticking when wound. We cannot guarantee any of the watches to be in working order. No real condition issues, however we believe that there has been an unmarked yellow metal plate soldered into the interior of the caseback, probably as a general repair to cover any holes that appeared in the repousse decoration on the front of the caseback. Looking at the back through a loupe, tiny holes can be seen within the decoration.
Unsure as to whether or not there would have been a dust cap originally??
