An early edition of this popular eighteenth-century gardening manual, arranged as a practical calendar of gardening activities throughout the year. Published under the name of Thomas Mawe, the work was principally associated with the horticultural writer John Abercrombie and subsequently appeared in numerous editions.

Condition:
Calf binding with rubbing, scuffing and wear to the edges, corners and extremities. Spine and boards appear to be of differing date, suggesting that the spine has been renewed or restored; blind-tooled decoration and red morocco lettering-piece remain largely clear. Later endpapers, with pencil price inscription to the front free endpaper. Contents generally clean, with intermittent light spotting and foxing.
