Case generally good; small chip to mahogany section at one side that adjoins the pediment, image 4; hairline crack at opposite side, image 8; glass good; signature and script numerals clear; does seem to be working, varying temperature readings evidenced according to warm/cold rooms here. Original working brass hanger, image 5. John Frederick Newman operated from this address circa 1827 until his death in 1862 when the business was taken over by Negretti & Zambra.
