An Art Deco nephrite, enamel and diamond desk timepiece, circa 1920, the silvered dial with engine turned decoration, with black Roman numeral indicators and gold openwork hands of laurel wreath design, within a border applied with deep blue enamel, the words 'BONNE ANNEE' ('Happy New Year') in reserve, within a mount of square outline with bevelled 'Japanese' corners in polished nephrite, accented to each corner with a rose-cut diamond in a star-shaped mount, the reverse with a hinged gilt metal strut, dial approximately measuring approximately 4.5cm, overall approximately 7.5 x 7.5 x 2.8cm including base back and winder, dial with applied plaque inscribed Cartier, strut numbered 519 and 4362, movement unsigned, numbered 154474, and 474, restoration

Condition:
Nephrite is cracked entirely through and restuck, and the dial is possibly a replacement. Cartier signature is an applied plaque to dial- it's possible that this has detached and been restuck as one corner is chipped. Enamel border with shallow ship near A of 'ANNEE'. Not running at time of cataloguing.
