A fine Georgian mourning ring, late 18th century, of navette-shaped outline, enclosing a micro-ivory carving of a funerary urn beneath a tree, adorned with swags of gold rope, on a blue glass ground, mounted in gold, size J1/2, band possibly a later replacement, stamped 9. Condition:
Contains ivory - exemption from the UK Ivory act has been applied for. Overall in good condition - small piece of ivory tree has broken off. Small bruise to underside of glass on left and right hand side, possibly a bit of adhesive has broken loose within the space and is attached to the left hand side of the urn. Glass in good condition, possibly original, band likely a later replacement as stamped with 9 to the interior, but well-matched.
