Wing Commander Brian Noble joined 79 Squadron on the 1st July 1940 at Biggin Hill. His Hurricane was shot down near Sevenoaks on the 1st September 1940. Injured, he was admitted to the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, where he received plastic surgery and became a member of the Guinea Pigs. He retired from Fighter Control Branch in 1969 and died in 1990.
