Condition:
Writing slope mahogany finish fair to good with some light scratches; inset brass plaque to top named to F Hallifax; brass lock escutcheon missing but with working key. Interior - blue velvet split at centrefold; brass lock escutcheon missing and no key; one of the slopes interestingly with maker’s label attached, see image; (Biggs recorded at this address 1820-1829) inkwell with circular plated cover - glass chipped; others not original; pencil compartment cover with turned bone handle. Rosewood workbox exterior: top with old circular stain at centre; pearl escutcheon incomplete; no key; one side with vertical scratch to one side. Interior tray partitions need rebuilding. Moroccan box all corners in need of improvement. Stationery box is 20th century, second half.
