A Chinese huanghuali and hongmu desk, 19th century, with inset rectangular top and four frieze drawers with original engraved brass loop handles, the plates incorporating hinged butterfly shaped escutcheon covers, on square section legs with lattice work understage and squared feet, 122cm wide, 66cm deep, 83cm high

Condition:
Overall of a good mid to dark chocolate brown patination, slightly matted in finish with some various water and ink stains to the top, very slight upward bowing to the top panel along with one or two splits running from the left side and small damages near to the corners, handles look original and oxidised, locks look original but no key present, drawers run smoothly, light wear to the understage commensurate with age, back of the desk is panelled and in equally good condition.
