A late 19th century hour repeating carriage alarum clock with patent bottom winding gorge case with plain handle over bevelled glass panels, the white enamel Roman and Arabic dial with alarm subsidiary, the twin barrel movement with silvered lever platform escapement with cut and compensated bimetallic balance, striking the hours and sounding the alarm on a coiled steel gong, wound from below via Le Roy’s patent (number 9501) integral winding key, 9.5cm wide, 8.5cm deep, 16cm high

Case heavily polished over the years and now down to a dull bronze tone with only a trace of gilding remaining at the back, dial looks to be original, some small black speckling near 11 o'clock but essentially good, bevelled glazing all looks good but for a small chip to the bottom of the back door, movement stamped Brevete A.O. S.G.D.G. Top plate thought to be original. Dial inscribed Leroy & Fils 56, New Bond Street Made in France Palais-Royal Paris. Movement going, repeat mechanism working, alarum not tested.
