A set of five Chinese Armorial meat plates, circa 1755, with painted central Ross Family Coat of Arms, with motto - 'Nobilis Est Ira Leonis'
within fine diaper and ribbon bands and finely enamelled floral borders, It has the arms of Ross accollé with Porterfield(?) and the service is Qianlong c.1755. It is illustrated on p. 563 of Howard Style Q7.

Condition:
All dishes with some slight wear to the gilding and enamels. Comprising two 26 cm dishes, one in good condition addition the other with a large curving crack from one corner almost extending to the other side. Two 29 cm dishes, one in good condition the other with a short curving glaze crack to the left of the armorial on the front which does not appear on the under side. The last dish 33 cm wide with two noticeable iron spots the glaze on the front and a short hairline crack lower left and a few tiny shallow glaze chips and abrasions to the edge.
