A William III ebonised cased and gilt metal double basket topped chiming and quarter repeating table clock, the 7 inch square brass and silvered dial with mock pendulum, chime/silent lever and date aperture, signed ''Wm. Speakman London'', the three train verge movement with later added bank of 5 bells, the backplate finely foliate engraved and further signed, beneath a heart-shaped pierced pallet cock, height 17in.

William Speakman was apprenticed to Peter Closon in 1654, free of the Clockmakers Company in 1661, and Master in 1701. He is known to have worked in Westminster and Hatton Garden.
Top left corner of backplate clipped, front dial, signature etc., possibly a later additions, striking and chiming erratic, but recently working.
