Lot 349 , A 19th century Burmese hardwood centre or library table, W.5ft 10in. D.3ft 8in. H.2ft 6in.
A 19th century Burmese hardwood centre or library table, with serpentine rectangular top and two drawers ornately foliate carved underframe with X stretcher and cabriole legs, W.5ft 10in. D.3ft 8in. H.2ft 6in.
Estimate £1,500-2,000
There are two frieze drawers to one long side of the table, there is a slight open gap to the join of the two plank top and some occasional water / ink staining to the top, occasional typical minor scuffs and scratches to the legs and stretchers but no real losses to the carved decoration, in fair to good condition.
The two drawers are original. They are flush with the freize and do not have key holes or handles making them rather hard to access. No sign of ever having handles - one has to reach underneath and slide them out from the base of the drawer (although fabric pulls could be attached).
Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports.
