Estimate £3,000-5,000
The owner of this censer purchased the piece in a London auction room before 1983 when they moved house.
There is a fine stress fracture to the base curving around the seal mark which appears to be only visible from the underside and does not appear to go all the way through to the interior, there are other typical minor knocks and scratches to the exterior, the censer has been lacquered more than 50 years ago and the interior has typical remnants of burnt ash etc., there is a slight nick on the edge of the foot rim which is probably a slight casting imperfection and there is wear to the base consistent with age, otherwise in good condition. It weighs 534g.
The wood stand which probably is late 19th century has a very slight crack to one side and is slightly mis-shapen from the circular.
