A Chinese pale grey and black jade carving of a cat, 19th century, in seated pose, pierced for a cord, 3.5cm

Provenance: Collected by the vendor's grandmother in Hong Kong or on her travels in mainland China before 1950.

Stone has grey, brown and black inclusions to it, the cat has been pierced for hanging cords in two places between the two front feet and from side to side at its centre.
