A Japanese lacquer and mixed metal overlaid tea caddy, Meiji period, the exterior decorated in gold lacquer with river landscape scenes applied in shakudo, gilt bronze and silver with figures of farmers in the fields including an oxen pulling a plough, the interior containing a pair of 'mack' decorated canisters with sliding lids, 24.5cm, repair to cover

12mm x 10mm loss to the lacquer on top of cover between two of the applied figures, back panel of cover has split away and been re-stuck with some slight flaking to the lacquer around the area. The split also extends just over half way along the side of the cover, rear left canted corner has a vertical split, small split to the front right corner of cover with a small dent below to the corner, other occasional minor scuffs and slight flaking around the base, a few small flake losses to front corners of canisters.
