A spot motif and verse sampler, by Sarah Stow dated 1833, worked in multi-coloured silks, with a vineous border, a row of alphabet letters with a wide panel of spot motifs of birds and flowers above an embroidered verse with more embroidered motifs of trees and dogs below, the bottom embroidered with trees and birds with a central cartouche containing her name and date the sampler was finished. 31cm wide x 41cm high. Condition - the sampler is ground is marked and colour faded with sunlight, there is one small moth hole but the ground and embroidery solid. The sampler needs remounting. The frame needs attention.
