A fine Italian Renaissance style velvet, embroidered and appliqué wall hanging, originally part of a pilaster hanging, made with crimson silk velvet, gold appliqué and colourful polychrome silk embroideries of parrots and large floral arrangements, sold together with a narrower 17th century Italian silk velvet panel from a vestment, designed with a gold appliqué pattern, couched with gold thread work, hanging 277cm long x 57cm wide, vestment panel 155cm long x 20cm wide. Condition - large panel’s embroidery has faded badly, it has just a hint of it’s original pattern and form, the smaller panel in similar condition, both of their condition mainly due to age, use and light. They would both benefit specialist conservation restoration.
