A framed sampler, initialled and dated 1874, worked with nine detailed pictorial motifs below a band of alphabet letters and numerals, each pictorial motif a different scene, a soldier and his wife, a white swan, a sailor paddling a boat, a bear under a tree, a pheasant and a central garland with initials and date within, 63cm wide x 62cm high. Condition - the backing fabric has all over staining, but the wool colours are unfaded and have no damage.
