John Pace, Bury St. Edmunds, c.1850, a rare mid 19th century eight day skeleton timepiece, the skeletonised chapter ring with outer dotted minute markers enclosing the pierced Arabic numerals, the numbers 4-8 'tumbling' over to be read upright, the time shown via blued steel moon hands, gut fusee movement set between a shaped solid backplate cast as a circle raised on C-scrolls, the front plate shield shaped and carrying the fusee, barrel and centre arbor, the 'scape and third wheel mounted on a single footed cock secured to the backplate, all wheels of five crossings, with anchor escapement and short pendulum with lenticular bob, signed to the plinth and raised on a brass inset ebony plinth with ball feet, 28cm wide, 17cm deep, 33cm high incl. dome

Condition:
Looks to be in honest untouched condition, dial is gilded where as the rest is plain brass, comes with winding key and pendulum but not tested, brass inlay around the plinth has lost some stringing and is oxidised. Thought to be of month-going duration.
