Lot 162 , An early 20th century French ormolu Grande Sonnerie alarum clock
An early 20th century French ormolu Grande Sonnerie alarum clock with enamelled Arabic dials and gorge case, movement striking on two blued steel gongs, 10cm wide, 9cm deep, 15.5cm high
£600-800
Condition:
Case in a fair state but with some scuffing and rubbing to the gilding, back door is inclined to be pushed inwards and then hard to open, bevelled glass panels all good, movement looks a little dirty, stamped Made in France to the lower left corner on the back plate, dials in good order, matted outer front dial a little oxidised, right hand winder appears to be overwound, left hand spins somewhat too freely so none of the operations of the clock are testable, top plate possibly later does tick for a while then stops, front door is fused shut with verdigris running all around so movement not currently accessible.
