A pair of early 19th century carved giltwood and gesso wall appliqués, each modelled as a winged eagle head and clasping a laurel crown in it's beak, W.1ft 6in. H.1ft 6in.

Both eagle heads look to be in honest untouched condition, dusty and dirty with some flaking of the gilt finish, the pendant loops may be either altered or added, the link between is gilt metal and held in the beaks by a wire arrangements, the laurel loops do look to have a matching finish and are equally dusty and dirty with one having lost its base loop, there are further drilled holes lower down on the laurel loops that may suggest either further attachments or at one time they were attached to something else, equally the eagle terminals at the body end have drilled holes and may once have been terminals for curtain rails or similar.
