Lot 259 , A Chinese bronze seated figure of Buddha Shakyamuni, 18th/19th century, total height 18.5cm
A Chinese bronze seated figure of Buddha Shakyamuni, 18th/19th century, on a contemporary hardwood stand carved in the form of rootwood, total height 18.5cm
Estimate £300-500
The bronze seated figure of Buddha has some evidence of old polychrome decoration to the surface and other areas of colour and patination, the rear of the figure is a patch which may be a fault in the casting, there is some wear to the base consistent with age and possibly an old solder repair to a small area on the underside of the base, the figure fits the wood stand perfectly which has lost some of its colours but with a polish would come up very well, there is a slight crack on the back of one branch of the stand, otherwise in good condition with no restoration. Weight 1284 grams
excluding the wood stand.
Provenance: Local private collection.
